John 14:1-7 | What am I going to do about it?

20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
-2 Cor. 5:20-21

The goalpost shifts when we think that heaven is the goal. We tend to think of that as a down the road experience. When we see that the goal is the Father and the through Jesus we can experience the Father now, that means we get to experience eternal life presently. This is not some distant future matter. We are told by Paul to be reconciled to God and tells us how that was accomplished through Jesus. Jesus made the Father accessible to us. How could we then not want commune with Him?

Communion is said right. We can come together in union with the Father because of the effective, perfect working of the Son. This leads me deeper in moments of prayer and deeper in moments of study. I remember a conversation with an individual that told me how great it was that I had all this bible knowledge but they really did not need that for salvation. That broke my heart. And when I look back I realize what their goal was. What was necessary for them was that the Father was not the goal. The goal was heaven and salvation gave them that. So they were done. Not so when the Father is the goal.

When the Father is the goal, salvation is not the end. It is the beginning. We now get to experience a full, healthy relationship with God Almighty, the Creator of all things. Let us not neglect the beauty of that. Let us enjoy Him thoroughly.

What application are you implementing today?
