Proverbs 28:14

14Happy is the man who is always reverent,
But he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity.
-Proverbs 28:14

We would all do well to learn how to better revere the Lord. A lack of fear of the Lord and a lack of reverence for God has greatly diminished our view of Him and our desperation for righteousness. The symptoms of this are found all over the place in modern theology, modern worship songs, the misuse of Scripture, and in how we live our lives. The Church has grown to delight in the things of this world without fear because of a lack of reverence of our Lord. And then we are surprised by how our lives can fall into calamity. But the man who is reverent before the Lord? He is blessed. For, despite how all things may be going in his life, he knows who has the authority. He can trust in the Lord over all. Do not harden your hearts, but delight in the Lord your God.
