Proverbs 30:12

12There is a generation that is pure in its own eyes,
Yet is not washed from its filthiness.

To show that there is nothing new under the sun and that the world is not in fact worse than it has ever been, I would like to remind us that this was the state of Israel in the book of Judges. They did what was right in their own sight. The interesting thing is that I find this particular trend prevails through most generations. Those who are rampant in wickedness care not for righteousness and believe that they are pure. Then you have those generations who look around and say that they are not as bad as other ones and therefore believe that they too are pure. But what is it that makes pure? It is only the blood of Jesus. A generation that was respectful to their elders is no more pure than a generation that did not if they are not washed in the blood of Jesus. We cannot become self-righteous regarding our generations. Instead of casting judgement and condemning, let us preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ that we may have generations that are actually pure in the eyes of God, having been washed of all their filthiness.
