Proverbs 28:11
11The rich man is wise in his own eyes,
But the poor who has understanding searches him out.
-Proverbs 28:11
America is filled with so called "self-made men." You have those who have gone out, put in the work, and seen the results and glorify themselves for it. They have become wise in their own eyes. This is not to say that this is the case for all who have wealth. This is, however, a pattern that is seen among the rich. The poor are not without their faults, but we do see a purpose behind those who lack to gain. Seldom have I heard a rich man seeking the Lord in desperation for Him. Frequent have I seen the poor on hands and knees, hungry and thirsty for righteousness. They are desperate for the Lord to give them wisdom, provide for their needs, and lift them up. This is where it is vital, no matter the wealth you may have, to be poor in spirit. We must fervently seek to gain Christ and all that He has. Let us be desperate for Him.
