Psalm 77:4-15
4You hold my eyelids open;
I am so troubled that I cannot speak.
5I have considered the days of old,
The years of ancient times.
6I call to remembrance my song in the night;
I meditate within my heart,
And my spirit makes diligent search.
7Will the Lord cast off forever?
And will He be favorable no more?
8Has His mercy ceased forever?
Has His promise failed forevermore?
9Has God forgotten to be gracious?
Has He in anger shut up His tender mercies?
Selah
10And I said, “This is my anguish;
But I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High.”
11I will remember the works of the Lord;
Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.
12I will also meditate on all Your work,
And talk of Your deeds.
13Your way, O God, is in the sanctuary;
Who is so great a God as our God?
14You are the God who does wonders;
You have declared Your strength among the peoples.
15You have with Your arm redeemed Your people,
The sons of Jacob and Joseph.
Selah
-Psalm 77:4-15
Wouldn't it just be great if everything was just perfect once you got born again? I loathe that this is a reality for so many believers and do genuinely wish we would never give ourselves cause to doubt. Many seasons of my life have I found myself questioning where God was and what He was doing. While there were many times that it was done in a place of sorrow, I had some points where it was even done in anger. I hesitate to say that this is a good practice for this is the very thing that Job was rebuked for by God Himself. What I will instead share with you is a practice that I have since adopted that Scripture encourages we keep to.
Remember. This is the key through these seasons that we must keep. Remember the works that the Lord has done. Remember His works in your life and how He has shown up. Remember the salvation He has brought to you. Remember His word and what He has promised to us as His children. Continue forward in faith. We see in many Scriptures that those who doubt or are struggling in such ways turn to remember the Lord. This is the right approach. For even in circumstances where worship may be hard you can still turn to praise. Whatever you be going through today, remember the Lord your God.
