Psalm 64:1-4
1Hear my voice, O God, in my meditation;
Preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
2Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked,
From the rebellion of the workers of iniquity,
3Who sharpen their tongue like a sword,
And bend their bows to shoot their arrows—bitter words,
4That they may shoot in secret at the blameless;
Suddenly they shoot at him and do not fear.
-Psalm 64:1-4
As we are now 64 Psalms in, we have seen a lot of instances where David's life was at stake. He was in a variety of very daunting circumstances and continues to be throughout these Psalms. An important point to recognize is that through all of it, the failures, disappointments, fears, and victories, David remained steadfast in his faith and continued in meditation.
I have heard many teaching about how someone such as David can be a man after God's own heart. The one factor that continues to stand in my mind is the fact that David was a continual man of faith. In all the circumstances he faced, even in his own failure, he would turn to the Lord. Take note and implement such a practice as being quick to turn to the Lord your God. No matter how perilous or daunting something may seem, find yourself running to the Lord. Be someone who pursues the heart of the Father.
