Psalm 45:10-17
10Listen, O daughter,
Consider and incline your ear;
Forget your own people also, and your father’s house;
11So the King will greatly desire your beauty;
Because He is your Lord, worship Him.
12And the daughter of Tyre will come with a gift;
The rich among the people will seek your favor.
13The royal daughter is all glorious within the palace;
Her clothing is woven with gold.
14She shall be brought to the King in robes of many colors;
The virgins, her companions who follow her, shall be brought to You.
15With gladness and rejoicing they shall be brought;
They shall enter the King’s palace.
16Instead of Your fathers shall be Your sons,
Whom You shall make princes in all the earth.
17I will make Your name to be remembered in all generations;
Therefore the people shall praise You forever and ever.
-Psalm 45:10-17
When you read this Psalm in totality you see that it is testifying of a wedding. In fact, the tune of this Psalm is to a wedding song. The first half of the verse focuses on the groom, God. The second half focuses on the bride. This bride is none other than the bride of Christ. Notice the very first verse in this passage has to do with repentance. Forget your own people and your father's house. To an extent, this is literal. However, as you dig deeper it is a matter of forgetting the old man. As nonbelievers we served our father the devil. Forgetting that and moving toward the King is a repentant mindset.
Entering salvation we had to repent and believe. As such we are made holy by the blood of Jesus and are found beautiful in the sight of God. A quick read through the Revelation of Jesus Christ shows the great expectation of the wedding feast of the Lamb. The sentiment is shared here in this passage. The Lord looks forward to this and longs to have eternity with the Church. As the Church, we ought to have our eyes set upon this day too. The more we see Him the more we enter into His likeness. As you would prepare for a wedding day, prepare for this Day. Continue to set your eyes on things above, being dead to the flesh and putting on the new man.
