Psalm 13
1 How long, O LORD? Will You forget me forever?
How long will You hide Your face from me?
2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul,
Having sorrow in my heart daily?
How long will my enemy be exalted over me?
3 Consider and hear me, O LORD my God;
Enlighten my eyes,
Lest I sleep the sleep of death;
4 Lest my enemy say,
“I have prevailed against him”;
Lest those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved.
5 But I have trusted in Your mercy;
My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
6 I will sing to the LORD,
Because He has dealt bountifully with me.
-Psalm 13
Let's face it. Most of us have been in this season before, be that for a day, a week, months, or even years. There have been mornings we have woken up and just had this question pressing upon us. "Where are you, God?" "Have you left me?" "Will you comfort me?"
We long that the Lord hear us and answer us, seeking to bring us out of whatever it might be that is travailing us. Amidst our seeking of the Lord through these seasons, let us be like David in this. Understanding the reality of His situation, He also recognizes the reality of His relationship with the Lord. This is incredibly important for us to have such a mindset when going through various tribulations.
Even in the midst of the storm, will you rejoice in the salvation the Lord has given you? Will you continue to sing to the Lord who has dealt bountifully with you? Do you recognize how the Lord has dealt bountifully and mercifully with you? The mindset that we approach our trials with can greatly impact those trials. It may not change the outcome of the trials themselves, but it will change how you come out of those trials. Something my dad had shared with me all growing up has continued to stick with me, "If you can't change your situation, change your attitude about it." I have since come to realize that the way my attitude MUST change is to continue delighting in the Lord through the trial. I encourage you to do the very same. Delight in the Lord and trust in Him. He is faithful and continually worthy of praise.
