Hebrews 13:1-4 | What's the connection?

The language of chapter 13 shifts from the language that was found all throughout the book. Where the central focus was upon faith, seeing Jesus as better than all else, and the consequences of departing, now it is upon the expression of faith.

It is clear that there are major cultural influences that have been taking precedent in the lives of the audience. It is by the cultural influences from the non-believing Jews that there have been so many pressures to join the synagogues. There have been cultural threats against the Christian that would leave the believer to be severely persecuted. There have been influences from the Greeks in the conduct of their character. All of these play together.
 
The biggest issue that was being faced was having to see Jesus in His proper place. After the argument has been driven as hard as it has been, the point now focuses on the expression of that faith. The first expression that comes out of faith is love.

The fruit of the Spirit is love...

7Beloved, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
-1 John 4:7

We love because He first loved us.
-1 John 4:19

The word of God is clear on the result of true, genuine faith. Love is the out pouring of it. Genuine love will be the result of genuine faith. This becomes the focus of chapter 13. The conduct of the believer must follow the proclamation of faith.
