Hebrews 9:16-28 | What's the lesson for me today?

Eagerly Waiting

28 so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.
-Hebrews 9:28
There is an attitude throughout Scripture that emphasizes waiting upon the Lord. There are many elements that play into this attitude. Hope, trust, and patience are all themes that the original audience would have recognized. In fact, this whole attitude of eagerly waiting for the Lord would have stood out.

As I have studied through the Old Testament, I have often given pause to the many moments where waiting upon the Lord is brought into the conversation. One of the things that stands out to me is the result of waiting upon the Lord. Let me give an example.
31But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
-Isaiah 40:31
Those who wait upon the Lord have their strength renewed! There is a promised reward for those who wait upon the Lord. This is the same for the passage in Hebrews. As we eagerly wait for the Lord, there is a promise for His return. Amazingly, we see His faithfulness in these moments in Scripture. When God's people wait for God, God shows up. All throughout Scripture we will find promised blessing for those who wait upon the Lord. The question is, do we wait upon the Lord?

What lesson are you taking from today's passage?
