John 12:12-50 | What am I going to do about it?

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit
-Philippians 2:3a

17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.
-James 3:17

Ironically, one of the biggest issues Israel had throughout their history is that they forgot the Lord their God. When they would forget the Lord, that is when they would fall into sin and so all the dumb stuff we make fun of them for. The irony here is that it is the same pattern we fall into. We are so good at forgetting the Lord. The primary reason we forget the Lord is because we turn our eyes upon ourselves.

Jesus tells us not to love our own lives. We are to consider others more highly than ourselves. We are to have the Lord be our everything. The problem is a super simple problem with a simple, but difficult solution. We love ourselves. We must love the Lord above ourselves. Jesus says it this way in Luke 14.

26 “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. 27 And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.
-Luke 14:26-27

What I will be doing is making the effort to center my eyes upon the Lord and what He has His eyes upon. I want to take to heart and put into sincere action the following verse:

    5      Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
    And lean not on your own understanding;
    6      In all your ways acknowledge Him,
    And He shall direct your paths.
-Proverbs 3:5-6
