John 10:22-42 | What's the lesson for me today?

Jesus calls for the Jews around Him to look upon His works and let those testify of who Jesus says He is. If you believe in His works, then you will also believe that He is who He says He is.

I am sure many of us have encountered people who are all talk. They can put on a nice face and have everyone convinced that they are someone spectacular. But when you get to their works, the evidence testifies against them. You can very easily look at an individual's works to know where they stand. What I am encouraged by in this lesson for me today is that I can still look upon the works of Jesus to understand who He is.

Over the course of the last year, in my own personal study, I have realized that I have an extremely limited view on the love of God. This comes from a pretty robust history of love looking contrary to what we see in Scripture. I had realized I projected my poor experiences with love upon the Lord. Even upon realizing this, I did not immediately grow in my understanding in the love of God. I embarked on a journey to really grasp the love of God.

One of the major points of this journey that the Lord has used to really reinforce His love in my life is looking at the evidence of His love.

8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
-Romans 5:8-9

10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
-1 John 4:10

If we look upon the works He has done, we will see the evidence of who He is. And in this, we see His love on full display. May we not forget one of the most famous verses in all of Scripture either.

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
-John 3:16
