John 6:15-21 | What am I going to do about it?

Have you ever been in that place where you are working hard and have your head down that you just are not catching what is going on around you? You may miss points in conversation because your thoughts are distant and you are simply present in whatever it is that you are doing? That is a little bit of how I feel right now. I am in the boat and simply rowing. My head is down and I am doing my best to move. But if my head is down, it is not looking up to where Jesus is. It is not that I need to stop rowing. On the contrary, I must keep rowing. But I need to row with my perspective focused on a different point.

I find I can often fall for the trap of simply doing things. They are good things! But I am not stopping to think, process, ponder, or be in wonder of the Lord. I am convinced that we are not meant to go through life passively. When I do, I am a step short of inviting Jesus into the boat. So what I have is currently a two step process.

  1. Look up
  2. Willingly receive

There is a lot out there that hungers for your attention, as it does for mine. But what will we do with that? I need to say no for some of what looks to draw me and say yes to the Lord. My time and attention must be devoted to Him. If anything, I need to sit and enjoy Him. So I will be taking a step back and weighing what it is that I am allowing to take my time and attention and bring that to the feet of Jesus. I want to see what Jesus is doing and where He is going. I want to be apart of His story.

What application will you be implementing in your own life?
