John 1:1-13 | What am I going to do about it?

Belief can sometimes be a funny thing for the very reasons that I stated in yesterday's devotion. Sometimes you do not really know whether or not you believe something until it is tested. It is my goal in life to be entirely sincere in my belief concerning the Lord. It is a regular thing that the Lord refines my belief by the fire and I am really needing to put boots to the ground as to whether I will believe.

When I first moved up to Flagstaff, the Lord led me into an extensive sabbatical season. Prior to that, the Lord was showing me continuously how He provides. I did not realize how quickly or severely that would be tested. I was without work and without income, studying the Word of God, for 7 months. Praise the Lord, there was not a day we went without.

There are things even now that the Lord has been revealing to me that are actively being tested. What I am doing concerning my belief is reinforcing or correcting it through the Scriptures.

16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
-2 Timothy 3:16-17

17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
-Romans 10:17

I am being active in my pursuit of knowing the truth and refining my beliefs that they would match the Word of God. Unbelief is the greatest deterrent for the Lord to work in our lives. If we sow in unbelief, we will reap the consequences of unbelief. But if we sow in belief, we will reap a great reward. I have seen it continuously in my life on both sides. So I will actively pursue the Lord in believing Him more and more every day.

How about you? What application steps will you take for your life?
