Proverbs 31:14

14      She is like the merchant ships,
    She brings her food from afar.
-Proverbs 31:14

Consider the purpose of a merchant ship. It brings goods from one place to another. As it states in this specific instance, she is bringing her food from afar. Well for the believer, what is our food?

34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.

35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.

53 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. 56 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.

It is Jesus, the Word, that is our food. We bring these goods to share like a merchant ship brings goods to sell.
