Proverbs 21:25-26
25The desire of the lazy man kills him,
For his hands refuse to labor.
26He covets greedily all day long,
But the righteous gives and does not spare.
-Proverbs 21:25-26
Covetousness and laziness are a disaster in their working together. The man who exists in both is tormented by his desire for something but also has no ability to go and get it. We have often addressed the issues of laziness and greed independently. Together it creates a whole new issue. The contrast we have is that of the righteous. Not only does the righteous have because they have rightly worked, but they are also in the position to give because they are not greedy for gain. Laziness and greed share a common trait in that the focus is selfish. Righteousness poses a different perspective in demonstrating selflessness. Let us then walk in righteousness being selfless and pursuing after the Lord in word and deed.
