Proverbs 21:24

24A proud and haughty man—“Scoffer” is his name;
He acts with arrogant pride.
-Proverbs 21:24

Pride is promoted throughout our modern day culture. You see it on the movies and various TV shows where the one who scoffs is celebrated. We have been taught and trained that there is a degree of pride and scoffing that is okay for us to partake in. What we fail to see is that such things may very well be weights against our progress forward, or even sins that we need to repent of. Be wary of pride. Do not hasten so quickly to it. While generally, it may seem to be a good thing to take pride in what you do, that pride can quickly turn into a problem. While it may be good to take pride in your kids accomplishments, that can quickly turn as well. Take note of when your pride turns into scoffing. Once it hits that point, you have far surpassed the point that your pride in "good" things is actually a good thing. Be cautious with that thing that the Lord resists. Keep yourself humble before the Lord.
