Proverbs 21:14
14A gift in secret pacifies anger,
And a bribe behind the back, strong wrath.

This is another one of those instances where we recognize matters of fact being addressed does not particularly endorse such a behavior. We have seen many times over where bribing and taking a bribe are generally not the best course of action. But the evidence remains to show it to be effective. It is true that a gift in secret can pacify one who is angry. What are we as believers to do with such information? While a bribe should not be involved, I take no issue with seeking to make peace with those who are angered by you or something you have done. As much as within your ability, seek to be at peace with all men.
