Proverbs 21:2

2Every way of a man is right in his own eyes,
But the Lord weighs the hearts.
-Proverbs 21:2

We find more and more that we tend to operate off of a form of instinct in our lives. On the surface, each of us truly believes that what we are doing is right. When we dive deeper down and truly consider what it is that we are doing, that is where we find what our moral objective truly is. A man who gives to the poor may look no different than another man who gives to the poor. The Lord sees where one gives grumblingly, just to get the poor man off of his back as well as the one who gives because he is walking in sincere love. The Lord looks beyond the action to the heart and weighs it carefully. This is where we must be invested in prayer and the study of the Word. Many times, we do not even see where our intentions are. The Lord will reveal that to us. We must present ourselves to God as instruments of righteousness and allow Him to have His perfect work in us. Let this be our prayer and our practice.
