Proverbs 20:21

21 An inheritance gained hastily at the beginning
Will not be blessed at the end.
-Proverbs 20:21

We have a very clear example of what this looks like through the prodigal son. He gained his inheritance early and squandered it all. He ran back to his father and was received with open arms. However, the inheritance that was so easily gained was lost. It had not the blessing that it should have had at the end.

There is something to be said about making quick and easy money. The statistics are jarring for those who win the lottery, gain large sums of inheritances, or get some other form of quick cash, as to how they so quickly squander it. What could have been a tremendous blessing instead became a curse to them. The Lord has entrusted us with what we have. We ought to consider that with great caution. Let us manage what we have with wisdom and in the fear of the Lord.
