Proverbs 17:14
14The beginning of strife is like releasing water;
Therefore stop contention before a quarrel starts.
-Proverbs 17:14
I am sure we have all seen it happen. Tensions are high and you feel like you're at your breaking point. Somebody says something that just tips you over the edge and then the flood gates are open. Every wrong that had been "forgiven" gets resurrected and thrown back and forth. It is no longer about the one instance that kicked off this argument. It is about all the contentions that were held in to this point and now you are fighting your way through dozens of other arguments in the midst of the one. Such is the nature of strife. When it comes to marriage, many point out that communication is key. So is the same with relationships in general. If there is a contention you have, put an end to it before the fight begins. For once it begins, it cannot be put back away. Seek to be at peace with all men. Especially with those in the faith, endeavor to keep the unity of the saints. If a quarrel has already begun between you and another, seek to reconcile. Put an end to the contentions. The heart of the Father is that of reconciliation. If anyone had cause to be offended, it is the Lord at us. Yet, God, in His incredible mercy, sought to reconcile us to Him. Take such a practice upon yourself and cease quarreling.
