Proverbs 17:4

4An evildoer gives heed to false lips;
A liar listens eagerly to a spiteful tongue.
-Proverbs 17:4

Rather than being one whose spirit rules over the flesh, the man who does evil gives heed to his own flesh. Should the desire rest upon them to speak lies, then lies they shall speak. Wherever it is that their impulses lead, so they will follow. And this one who speaks such wickedness heeds even the heart of where that speech comes from. Certainly, we may know that we should not lie, but should we give heed too? Psalm 119 gives us a great direction.

9How can a young man cleanse his way?
By taking heed according to Your word.
-Psalm 119:9

Let us not take heed to our flesh, but instead to the word of the Lord. His ways are the ways of righteousness and they alone lead to life. His ways alone cleanse our way. Be diligent to take heed to the Word of God.
