Proverbs 16:5
5Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord;
Though they join forces, none will go unpunished.
-Proverbs 16:5
I once had someone ask me, "What is the big deal with pride and Christians? Isn't pride a good thing?" Many do hold to pride being a good thing. Take pride in your work! Take pride in your effort! Take pride in who you are! It is so wrapped up in our culture to be proud. What does the Lord tell us to take pride in? Certainly not anything of ourselves. If we are to boast, we are to boast concerning Him. The concern that the Lord has with us is to grow in humility. The proud in heart is abominable to the Lord! I am certain that none of us want to be found in such a way before the Lord. So humble yourself before the Lord. Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought. And if you think you stand, take heed, lest you fall. Do not allow your own arrogance to hold you up. Let it be the Lord that sustains you through all things.
