Proverbs 15:25
25The Lord will destroy the house of the proud,
But He will establish the boundary of the widow.
-Proverbs 15:25
Due to the fact that Scripture very regularly reminds me how important humility is to the Lord and how detrimental pride is to our faith, I think it is worth highlighting that we need regular reminders of it. Pride spends all of its time trying to build itself up only for the Lord to come and bring it low. Humility recognizes the status that we have before the Lord already and allows Him to lift us up. This is why there is such a focus upon the poor, orphan, and widowed in Scripture. They know that they are lowly. There is nothing that they have to bring to the table but the meagerness of where they are in life. The Lord looks at that and knows He could use that. The thing is, we all share in that same meager offering. Though those that think they have wealth or status fail to see what lack there is in their offering. Humble yourself before the Lord and cling whole heartedly to Him. He will exalt you in due time.
But He will establish the boundary of the widow.
