Proverbs 12:4
4An excellent wife is the crown of her husband,
But she who causes shame is like rottenness in his bones.
-Proverbs 12:4
Our culture has taken the idea of marriage and completely twisted it around. The main pursuit now is what can you do for me, as opposed to what I can do for you. Remember that marriage is a typification of our relationship with God. The pursuit of the Lord is uplifting us, and our pursuit is exalting Him. So the same should the marriage relationship be. We ought to pursue our spouse with the intent to care for them. So then, an excellent wife is indeed the crown of her husband, for the excellent wife seeks to exalt and uplift him. Yet, the one who brings shame, be that by gossiping of him or living adverse to the biblical way with him, is like rottenness in his bones. Wives, you have the ability to exalt or degrade your husbands. Walk in such a manner that lifts them up before the Lord. Husbands, do not make this difficult on your wives. Be kind and gentle to her. Love her as Christ has loved the Church.
