Proverbs 10:17

17He who keeps instruction is in the way of life,
But he who refuses correction goes astray.
-Proverbs 10:17

The vast majority of us are introspective enough to notice patterns in our own lives. Many times, I myself have noticed patterns of repeating sins and the compromises I would make to those. Usually, the path to repeating sin is trodden with many compromises along the way. As I think back to those times that I found myself astray, the answer now seems obvious. I refused the correction of the Lord.

It almost seems too simple to point out that you will be successful in your faith if you walk in obedience to the word of God. However, that is where most of us struggle. We have developed a taste for the things of this world and resist the instruction of the Lord. If we resist, we refuse. If we refuse, we go astray. And so the pattern repeats. Most of us are already aware of what the Lord is instructing of us to do. I urge obedience. Do not develop a pattern of resisting the Lord. You may grow callous to His correction, and the compromise becomes easy. Let your heart be tender to His ways, and walk steadfastly in the way of life.
