Proverb 6:25-29
25Do not lust after her beauty in your heart,
Nor let her allure you with her eyelids.
26For by means of a harlot
A man is reduced to a crust of bread;
And an adulteress will prey upon his precious life.
27Can a man take fire to his bosom,
And his clothes not be burned?
28Can one walk on hot coals,
And his feet not be seared?
29So is he who goes in to his neighbor’s wife;
Whoever touches her shall not be innocent.
-Proverbs 6:25-29
This is one of those things that lies in wait if you are not armed thoroughly with the word of God. One of the things that I find particularly interesting about this passage is how insulting it has the potential to be. A man is reduced to a crust of bread. This is what lust does. Many of us have seen great Christian leaders fall to such sin as this. Nations have been toppled by way of a seductress. Lust preys upon ones life. For all the temptations that Scripture tells us to fight, sexual immorality we are told to flee.
Many may think themselves clever with how they can get away with participating in such things. They think that as long as they aren't directly hurting anyone, they are fine. But can a man take fire to his bosom and his clothes no be burned? Most definitely not. The one who walks on hot coals will be seared. Keep yourself from this by clinging to the Word. Flee from this and dash into the arms of your Father in heaven.
Nor let her allure you with her eyelids.
