Proverbs 4:5-9

5Get wisdom! Get understanding!
Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.
6Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you;
Love her, and she will keep you.
7Wisdom is the principal thing;
Therefore get wisdom.
And in all your getting, get understanding.
8Exalt her, and she will promote you;
She will bring you honor, when you embrace her.
9She will place on your head an ornament of grace;
A crown of glory she will deliver to you.”

It is a lie that wisdom just comes to us over time. I have seen many elderly make very unwise decisions. Likewise, I have seen many young make very wise decisions. It is also important to distinguish the type of wisdom one is gaining. For the wisdom of this world is very different from heavenly wisdom, as James identifies. What Proverbs is talking about here is gaining heavenly wisdom. We need to be those that are in active pursuit of wisdom. This comes about through prayer and meditation of the word of God. Let that be your muse that you would be a heavenly minded individual. The reward for wisdom is exaltation. Humble yourself before the Lord and may He exalt you. May you be crowned with glory as you pursue after Him.
