Proverbs 3:9-10

9Honor the Lord with your possessions,
And with the firstfruits of all your increase;
10So your barns will be filled with plenty,
And your vats will overflow with new wine.
-Proverbs 3:9-10

To everything that has been entrusted to us by the Lord, we should steward it well. As good stewards of what we have, that does not intend to say that we do with it as we best see fit, but we do with it as the Lord, our Master, best sees fit. The goal of the steward is to please the Master. Honor the Lord with your possessions. Give to Him the firstfruits of all your increase. As a result, there is a blessing.

There is a disclaimer here. I have heard many using this passage to manipulate people into giving more that they would receive more. I have a hard time saying thats a good use of this passage. Giving, tithing, and offerings are all good and important, however this has more to do with how we conduct ourselves with what the Lord has given to us. When we do as He wishes, we are filled to the fullest. We ourselves prosper. As we honor the Lord with our possessions, we store up treasures in heaven, instead of here on earth. Prayerfully consider how you are managing what the Lord has entrusted to you. Do you steward it well and honor the Lord with it? Seek Him that you may find Him. Trust His instruction.
