Proverbs 1:28-33
28“Then they will call on me, but I will not answer;
They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me.
29Because they hated knowledge
And did not choose the fear of the Lord,
30They would have none of my counsel
And despised my every rebuke.
31Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way,
And be filled to the full with their own fancies.
32For the turning away of the simple will slay them,
And the complacency of fools will destroy them;
33But whoever listens to me will dwell safely,
And will be secure, without fear of evil.”
-Proverbs 1:28-33
Scripture is not a stranger to the point of no return. I think of Matthew 7 of those that say, "Lord, Lord...," and explains all that they had claimed to do in His name. He turns them away as workers of iniquity and says, "I never knew you." When we fail to heed the voice of wisdom and walk in foolishness, it leads to more foolishness. Foolishness does not result in wisdom. Verse 19 makes this even more interesting. The rejection is because of a hatred for knowledge and not choosing the fear of the Lord. It is your choice as to whether you will heed the voice of the Lord. Will you fear Him and take in what He says? Or will you reject His words, and Him along with them?
To whomever takes the path of their own way, they will eat that fruit. They will be given over to their own desires. The Lord is a gentleman, in a manner of speaking. He will not force Himself upon anyone. If your desire is contrary to Him, He will let that be so. Listen to the voice of the Lord. Heed wisdom and dwell safely in His hands. For there, you may be secure, having no fear of evil.
