Psalm 145:4-7
4One generation shall praise Your works to another,
And shall declare Your mighty acts.
5I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty,
And on Your wondrous works.
6Men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts,
And I will declare Your greatness.
7They shall utter the memory of Your great goodness,
And shall sing of Your righteousness.
-Psalm 145:4-7
Think of when you were a child. If you saw your parents complain about something, what was your response? Usually I would come away from it thinking that was not a good thing. I'd see my dad complain about the referees in a football game because they were bad refs. I'd see my mom complain something someone said because it was wrong. Complaint highlights issues. Now picture complaining about the Lord in front of children. Complaining about going to church, or inability to get into Scripture, or grumbling because it is your morning to serve all associates the Lord as someone bad in the mind of the child.
Reverse the response. As a child, you would see what excited your parents and you associated that with something good. Share your praises of the Lord with those of other generations! This is much of why praise is not meant to be something that is exclusively internal. We should express our praise because it encourages one another in it. Yet we will not do such a thing if we are not meditating on His majesty. We will not speak of His awesome acts if we do not remember them. Be invested in the word of God and be swift to give praise. Share with you children about the incredible works of God. Testify of His goodness to your spouse. Enjoy the Lord with your friends. Give praise to the Lord!
