Psalm 144:3-4

3Lord, what is man, that You take knowledge of him?
Or the son of man, that You are mindful of him?
4Man is like a breath;
His days are like a passing shadow.
-Psalm 144:3-4

Take a moment and really meditate on what this means. Consider for a moment what eternity is. It is not just a really long time. It goes beyond time. It exists before time and it exists after time. Consider the scope of One who is eternal, One who always was, One who always is, and One who always will be. There was never a time before God nor will there be one after. In light of this eternity, consider what man is. As verse 4 states, we are like a breath. Take a quick breath right now. Consider that one breath in comparison to every breath that has ever been taken on the face of the Earth. This is your life compared to eternity. Yet, the Lord is mindful of you.

How awesome and great is our God! We have done nothing that has warranted such a love from Him. Outside of His say so, we have no worth or value. We are made worthwhile and valuable because of His love for us. In His eyes, we are worth the attention. What is man that He would be mindful of Him? Man is the Lord's prized creation. We are the reward He seeks to have with Him for all eternity onward. Our response can only be love and admiration unto the Lord. Rejoice in Him and walk in thankfulness as you go about your life.
