Psalm 135:1-7
1Praise the Lord!
Praise the name of the Lord;
Praise Him, O you servants of the Lord!
2You who stand in the house of the Lord,
In the courts of the house of our God,
3Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good;
Sing praises to His name, for it is pleasant.
4For the Lord has chosen Jacob for Himself,
Israel for His special treasure.
5For I know that the Lord is great,
And our Lord is above all gods.
6Whatever the Lord pleases He does,
In heaven and in earth,
In the seas and in all deep places.
7He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth;
He makes lightning for the rain;
He brings the wind out of His treasuries.
-Psalm 135:1-7
The authority of the Lord is matchless. As it states in Colossians 1, He is preeminent over all things. He is superior to all things. Through Him everything was made that was made. Over all creation the Lord has authority. This authority should impact us in a very profound way. For one, it should give us confidence in our prayers knowing that what the Lord says goes. Additionally, it should give us confidence in living our lives unto the Lord. Submitting to the authority of God puts us in a really good place of standing. For from this place we can be firm. He chose you because it pleased Him to do so. He sent His Son to give you freedom because He has the authority to do so. He gives you the freedom to walk in the liberty of the Spirit because He saw it fit. Praise the Lord for His amazing authority! Rejoice in the Lord almighty!
