Psalm 122
1I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the Lord.”
2Our feet have been standing
Within your gates, O Jerusalem!
3Jerusalem is built
As a city that is compact together,
4Where the tribes go up,
The tribes of the Lord,
To the Testimony of Israel,
To give thanks to the name of the Lord.
5For thrones are set there for judgment,
The thrones of the house of David.
6Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May they prosper who love you.
7Peace be within your walls,
Prosperity within your palaces.”
8For the sake of my brethren and companions,
I will now say, “Peace be within you.”
9Because of the house of the Lord our God
I will seek your good.
-Psalm 122
It is good to convene with the Lord. We should likewise be glad going unto the Lord. In Him we have salvation. In Him we have unity with one another in the faith, Jew and Gentile alike. At the center of this Psalm is Jerusalem. It is God's people, the Israelites. We need to be praying for Israel. It amazes me that we are here, however many thousands of years later, still needing to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. It does not surprise me. If God chose a people, then most certainly the enemy would seek to destroy them. What amazes me is the fact that the Lord, Faithful and True, has continued to preserve His people. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Pray for Israel this morning. Rejoice in God's people.
