Psalm 119 - Ayin
121I have done justice and righteousness;
Do not leave me to my oppressors.
122Be surety for Your servant for good;
Do not let the proud oppress me.
123My eyes fail from seeking Your salvation
And Your righteous word.
124Deal with Your servant according to Your mercy,
And teach me Your statutes.
125I am Your servant;
Give me understanding,
That I may know Your testimonies.
126It is time for You to act, O Lord,
For they have regarded Your law as void.
127Therefore I love Your commandments
More than gold, yes, than fine gold!
128Therefore all Your precepts concerning all things
I consider to be right;
I hate every false way.
-Psalm 119:121-128
There is a certain fear and excitement that I have concerning the justice of God. It seems this is shared with the Psalmist. When God's justice is considered, we tend to think of it outwardly to those who are in need of swift judgment. We tend to be much slower to consider the justice of God toward us. Is it just that I have been given salvation? Is it just that His mercies are new every morning? If God is so just, why not eradicate me in my sin? Praise the Lord that in giving His Son He has made it just for such things. Even still wickedness will be dealt with. The wrath of God abides upon the sons of disobedience, as Ephesians says. Knowing the justice of God, how ought you to walk? Prayerfully consider this question today. Be diligent in how you walk and faithful to Him who is Faithful and True.
