Psalm 96:10-13

10Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns;
The world also is firmly established,
It shall not be moved;
He shall judge the peoples righteously.”
11Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad;
Let the sea roar, and all its fullness;
12Let the field be joyful, and all that is in it.
Then all the trees of the woods will rejoice before the Lord.
13For He is coming, for He is coming to judge the earth.
He shall judge the world with righteousness,
And the peoples with His truth.
-Psalm 96:10-13

It is so unfortunate that the end of the age has sparked so much worry and concern within the people of God. Sure, there is a healthy fear that keeps us ready for His return. However I have found many in genuine dread at the thought of His coming. Scripture holds a very different view from this. There is excitement for it. There is yearning for the coming of the Lord. When the Lord returns, all will be made right! Of course heaven and earth would rejoice! They will be made new! Think of our own salvation. Even without recognizing it, when we were born again we see how our very spirits longed for salvation. This world is in disarray. The Lord returns and arrays it all correctly again.

We should have such zeal and excitement for His return for even we will experience the fullness of salvation. Not only our spirits will be in right standing with God, but so will our souls and so will our bodies. The writers throughout Scripture had this regularly on their minds. It is a focus. It is a pursuit. They seek to hasten the day of His coming. We should, in like manner, long to see the Lord's return.
