Psalm 96:4-6

4For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised;
He is to be feared above all gods.
5For all the gods of the peoples are idols,
But the Lord made the heavens.
6Honor and majesty are before Him;
Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.
-Psalm 96:4-6

As I have been in deeper study concerning the words of Jesus, I have noticed a particular undertone of the fear of the Lord. Many would stray from this topic as the fear of the Lord can be a frightening topic. Rightfully so. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. All the more reason we must learn to fear Him rightly. We do not fear Him as though He is mean. We fear Him as He is above all. We revere Him, yes. Though the fear we ought to have concerning the Lord goes beyond reverence. He is strong, mighty, and beautiful. In comparison, we lack all of those.

He is great and greatly to be praised! Our attention must be on Him! Do not be distracted or hindered by the things of this world. Watch the Lord. Set your mind on things above, not on things on earth. Romans teaches us that having your mind set on earthly things is death! It is to our own detriment that we do not fear the Lord. Fear Him rightly.
