Psalm 90:7-8
7For we have been consumed by Your anger,
And by Your wrath we are terrified.
8You have set our iniquities before You,
Our secret sins in the light of Your countenance.
-Psalm 90:7-8
Nothing is hidden from the sight of our God. He is described in Revelation as having eyes like burning fire. They burn through all that we hide. He sees the depths of who we are and the extent by which we have done. He knows our thoughts and iniquities. There is no extent to which you can hide from God.
As we consider this fact, I find myself in such praise for the work of Jesus. My sin sat ever before the Father. My condemnation was just. Yet Jesus did not simply hide my sin for me so that the Father could not see it. He cleansed me of my sin. Forgiven. Even that which has been done in secret has been washed away. I am cleansed and made new! So not only have I been washed clean, but I have been consecrated to the Lord and made holy.
Sufficient is the work of Jesus for me and for you! The wrath of God no longer abides upon us that are in Christ Jesus. We have been set free. I challenge you this morning to prayerfully and rejoicingly consider what it means that we have been set free from sin and cleansed from al unrighteousness. Praise be to the Lord!
