Psalm 86:1-7

1Bow down Your ear, O Lord, hear me;
For I am poor and needy.
2Preserve my life, for I am holy;
You are my God;
Save Your servant who trusts in You!
3Be merciful to me, O Lord,
For I cry to You all day long.
4Rejoice the soul of Your servant,
For to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
5For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive,
And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You.
6Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer;
And attend to the voice of my supplications.
7In the day of my trouble I will call upon You,
For You will answer me.
-Psalm 86:1-7

Entrusted to the Lord, our very souls are secure. In John 15 we get a beautiful picture at how the Lord is a vinedresser. He cuts and prunes; He waters and makes whole. The Lord is careful that we would produce fruit in our lives. He cares for the vine and wants to see it come to its fullest potential. Likewise, the Lord desires that you would have life and joy and have that to the full. Surely we can entrust ourselves to Him.

As I examine my life, it has never been the Lord that has held me back from growth. Rather, it has always been me attempting to make my own way or strive through my own works. This, of course, proves entirely fruitless and leaves me beaten and battered. Never have I regretted what I have submitted to the Lord. Still it is easy to enter into a pattern of attempting to secure myself by myself. Do not fall for the same trap. Entrust yourself entirely to the Lord. He is good and faithful! He will not do wrong to you.
