Psalm 85:1-7
1Lord, You have been favorable to Your land;
You have brought back the captivity of Jacob.
2You have forgiven the iniquity of Your people;
You have covered all their sin.
Selah
3You have taken away all Your wrath;
You have turned from the fierceness of Your anger.
4Restore us, O God of our salvation,
And cause Your anger toward us to cease.
5Will You be angry with us forever?
Will You prolong Your anger to all generations?
6Will You not revive us again,
That Your people may rejoice in You?
7Show us Your mercy, Lord,
And grant us Your salvation.
-Psalm 85:1-7
Salvation, restoration, and reconciliation comes from the Lord alone. By the work of Jesus, we are not simply covered of our sin, we are cleansed of it. How blessed we are indeed! The Lord delights in showing mercy and we have the opportunity to be on the receiving end of such mercy. Rejoice in that. Cherish the fact that the Lord cherishes you who are in Christ Jesus. His anger towards us has ceased and we can walk with favor in the Lord.
It is good to step back and remember the simple gospel. Remember the work that Jesus has accomplished in your life. Think of what you have been saved from. Also think of what you have been saved towards. You are cleansed for a purpose. Being made new, you can walk in the newness of life. Walk therein and rejoice in the Lord your God.
