Psalm 81:8-16

    8      “Hear, O My people, and I will admonish you!
    O Israel, if you will listen to Me!
    9      There shall be no foreign god among you;
    Nor shall you worship any foreign god.
    10      I am the LORD your God,
    Who brought you out of the land of Egypt;
    Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.
    11      “But My people would not heed My voice,
    And Israel would have none of Me.
    12      So I gave them over to their own stubborn heart,
    To walk in their own counsels.

    13      “Oh, that My people would listen to Me,
    That Israel would walk in My ways!
    14      I would soon subdue their enemies,
    And turn My hand against their adversaries.
    15      The haters of the LORD would pretend submission to Him,
    But their fate would endure forever.
    16      He would have fed them also with the finest of wheat;
    And with honey from the rock I would have satisfied you.”
-Psalm 81:8-16

Heed the voice of God. Take His words to heart. Listen to what He says. This is relatively simple in concept, yet still it is so easy to stray from it. Most believers I have encountered long to be a far cry from pretend submission to the Lord. However, many still struggle with heeding His voice. There is something that should raise caution within us. When we try to make the bible say something it doesn't or make the bible not say something it does, we are pretending submission.

The Lord will satisfy you if you take the Word seriously. There is reward in heeding His voice. Let us be those who approach the Word with an openness of heart and preparedness to change based on what He says. Such an attitude will do you well, for your heart is set on Him. Let us be on guard against the lie that God is not desiring complete obedience. Walk faithfully to the One in whom you have your faith.
