Psalm 78:1-4

1Give ear, O my people, to my law;
Incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
2I will open my mouth in a parable;
I will utter dark sayings of old,
3Which we have heard and known,
And our fathers have told us.
4We will not hide them from their children,
Telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord,
And His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.
-Psalm 78:1-4

What we have learned in our faith is meant to be passed down through generations. Throughout the Old Testament especially we have a lot of emphasis on setting up reminders of the things that the Lord has done so that the generations to follow would also remember. There are parts used strategically in feasts to demonstrate how God has worked and that His faithfulness continues. The Bible talks a lot about children and training them up. It is unfortunate, then, the way we see children in today's society.

I have found through many years of church going that children are frequently seen as burdens. While it was purposed in many ways through Israelite culture to teach one's children, it has now shifted in a lot of ways to passively hoping they just get it. Whether you do or do not have children, let us learn to be intentional with sharing the goodness of God with them. Take time with patience and invest in the next generation. That is where we will see the greatest impact of change in our world.

If you are wondering if there are any ways to start doing this, we are still in need of children's volunteers at Mountain View Flagstaff Church. If you are interested in serving in our Children's Ministry please feel free to reach out to us. We would love to get you connected.
