Psalm 72:5-11
5They shall fear You
As long as the sun and moon endure,
Throughout all generations.
6He shall come down like rain upon the grass before mowing,
Like showers that water the earth.
7In His days the righteous shall flourish,
And abundance of peace,
Until the moon is no more.
8He shall have dominion also from sea to sea,
And from the River to the ends of the earth.
9Those who dwell in the wilderness will bow before Him,
And His enemies will lick the dust.
10The kings of Tarshish and of the isles
Will bring presents;
The kings of Sheba and Seba
Will offer gifts.
11Yes, all kings shall fall down before Him;
All nations shall serve Him.
-Psalm 72:5-11
Words have power over something that is subject to it. This is something that amazes me concerning the Lord. Creation is subject to the Lord to the extent that it obeys His very command. Not only does this testify of the Lord's might and power, but in how He designed all things to be under Him. Not only was it subject to His voice through creation, but we even see in Jesus' life that He commands the storm to cease. If the Lord commands it, those under subject to Him obey. We should find ourselves living in such a way.
I find myself caught off guard by believers who read and study the Word only to excuse themselves out of it. I have watched many go into Scripture and come out debating it so that they would not have to walk in such obedience. It is good for us to study so that we understand what it is that He expects of us, but not so that we do not submit ourselves under Him. Surrender to the Lord is good and right. It is the best place for us to be.
