Psalm 69:5-12

    5      O God, You know my foolishness;
    And my sins are not hidden from You.
    6      Let not those who wait for You, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed because of me;
    Let not those who seek You be confounded because of me, O God of Israel.
    7      Because for Your sake I have borne reproach;
    Shame has covered my face.
    8      I have become a stranger to my brothers,
    And an alien to my mother’s children;
    9      Because zeal for Your house has eaten me up,
    And the reproaches of those who reproach You have fallen on me.
    10      When I wept and chastened my soul with fasting,
    That became my reproach.
    11      I also made sackcloth my garment;
    I became a byword to them.
    12      Those who sit in the gate speak against me,
    And I am the song of the drunkards.
-Psalm 69:5-12

The Lord has eyes of the likeness of fire. They see through all. There is no hiding ourselves from the Lord or anything we do. He knows our thoughts, our words, and our actions. Praise God for His grace and mercy that He would send His Son to bear our iniquity. Within this Psalm, we actually find a very interesting quote that Scripture makes reference to Jesus in a couple of different places. Verse 9 specifically testifies of the work of Jesus.

The first half of verse 9 is referenced in John 2 when He visits the temple and witnesses trading and selling taking place. The second half of verse 9 is referenced in Romans 15 talking about Him bearing our burdens. While the placement of this verse is extremely interesting I want to focus upon the gracious nature of our Lord.

He who has seen everything we have ever thought, ever said, and ever did counted the cost and saw it fit to give His Son on your behalf. Nothing was hidden from His sight as He considered you in His plan, yet still He went forth and bore your reproach. Our God is so good! Blessed be the name of the Lord! Rejoice in Him and give all praise unto His name!
