Psalm 65:11-13
11You crown the year with Your goodness,
And Your paths drip with abundance.
12They drop on the pastures of the wilderness,
And the little hills rejoice on every side.
13The pastures are clothed with flocks;
The valleys also are covered with grain;
They shout for joy, they also sing.
-Psalm 65:11-13
I remember in growing up in the faith the amount of times that I have heard and even thought that God just wants us to live with limits. You live with little and are not allowed to do anything. Jesus came to give life and life suppressed. This could not be farther from the truth. He came to give life and life to the fullest! Walking within the paths of God is walking in abundance. Sure, this may express itself through an abundance of wealth though I find that alone to be a pretty limiting definition of abundance. Of all things good, God's paths are overflowing therein.
Perhaps above the pursuit of wealth is the pursuit of happiness. While happiness is usually tied with temporary pleasure, joy is an overflow of who God is. He is the wellspring from which joy pours forth. Perhaps even above the pursuit of happiness is the pursuit of love. Scripture literally calls the character of God love. To what more abundance can one seek of love and the very One who is? The list can go on and on and the fact remains that the paths of the Lord drip with abundance. Should you desire to partake in what the Lord has to offer, walk in His ways.
