Psalm 62:5-8

5My soul, wait silently for God alone,
For my expectation is from Him.
6He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;
I shall not be moved.
7In God is my salvation and my glory;
The rock of my strength,
And my refuge, is in God.
8Trust in Him at all times, you people;
Pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us.
-Psalm 62:5-8

There are two matters to discuss concerning waiting upon the Lord in this passage that leads into the rest of it. The first is the waiting upon God alone. There is something about being in that secret place, physically alone before the Lord that allows you to wait upon the Lord in sincerity. No one knows that you are there, and being behind closed doors it is just you and God. In this place you feel exposed before the Lord and like you can let the Lord know all these things you keep to yourself. You are open.

Another is the matter of expectation being from God. When we come to prayer with the Lord, are we just coming from the place of duty or expecting to meet with God? There is a big difference in approach and that latter takes faith.

As a result we walk in the Lord in strength, being immovable. Yes it does take sacrifice but such a sacrifice is worth the cost for what we attain in and through it. Commit yourself to meeting with God, beholding His glory. You will find refuge and you will rise up on wings like eagles.
