Psalm 62:1-4

    1      Truly my soul silently waits for God;
    From Him comes my salvation.
    2      He only is my rock and my salvation;
    He is my defense;
    I shall not be greatly moved.

    3      How long will you attack a man?
    You shall be slain, all of you,
    Like a leaning wall and a tottering fence.
    4      They only consult to cast him down from his high position;
    They delight in lies;
    They bless with their mouth,
    But they curse inwardly.
-Psalm 62:1-4

Waiting upon the Lord can often be very counter cultural for us. We have all come to the realization of instant gratification. We can google something and have an answer in a matter of seconds. We can decide we do not want to go through the process of making food so we can get fast food. We do not have to wait to have conversations with friends, we can simply call or text them. Items shipped longer than 5 days is simply too long of a wait. Entertainment is right at our fingertips at all times. When we live in such a culture, it is no wonder why we struggle so much to read our bibles, sit down and pray, and wait upon the Lord.

There is a denial of the flesh that we must get accustomed too. That is that we must learn to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. Waiting on God is not an instant thing. There is patience, diligence, and humility in that place. It takes time and persistence. Learn to wait upon the Lord. In that place your strength will be renewed and you can stand upon the Lord your rock.
