Psalm 57:1-3

1Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me!
For my soul trusts in You;
And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge,
Until these calamities have passed by.
2I will cry out to God Most High,
To God who performs all things for me.
3He shall send from heaven and save me;
He reproaches the one who would swallow me up.
Selah
God shall send forth His mercy and His truth.
-Psalm 57:1-3

Salvation is truly found in the Lord. There is a large part of me that continues to be in awe at the fact that the salvation the Lord brought is not simply for eternity alone but also is something we can dwell in here and now. How incredible is our God that He would look to be our salvation throughout our lives? We can take refuge in the shadow of His wings.

This analogy grew on me more and more as I raised chickens. For those few that I catch laying on their bed of eggs I am amazed at how they spread themselves out to cover the whole nest. As I then read about the taking refuge in the shadow of His wings I think of the totality in the covering we have in the Lord. We must learn to take refuge quickly in the Lord. He is quick and ready to bring salvation.
