Psalm 53:2-6

2God looks down from heaven upon the children of men,
To see if there are any who understand, who seek God.
3Every one of them has turned aside;
They have together become corrupt;
There is none who does good,
No, not one.
4Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge,
Who eat up my people as they eat bread,
And do not call upon God?
5There they are in great fear
Where no fear was,
For God has scattered the bones of him who encamps against you;
You have put them to shame,
Because God has despised them.
6Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion!
When God brings back the captivity of His people,
Let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad.
-Psalm 53:2-6

We should be rather familiar with this passage as part of it is quoted in Romans 3. The sinful nature of man is bent on rebellion against the Lord. It is not to say that man cannot do anything good but that they themselves are not good in nature. There was a point that we all were in needing the salvation of the Lord. Praise God that He has brought to us salvation! Praise the Lord that we are new creations that now are concerned with righteousness! As Romans 6 teaches we were previously free in regard to righteousness. We had not cared nor desired to walk in such a way. Yet now we love righteousness having been born again. Rejoice this morning in the salvation you have received and in the new nature you have been given.
