Psalm 41:1-3

   1      Blessed is he who considers the poor;
    The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.
    2      The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive,
    And he will be blessed on the earth;
    You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies.
    3      The LORD will strengthen him on his bed of illness;
    You will sustain him on his sickbed.
-Psalm 41:1-3

The Word of God is very concerned with how it is that we treat those who are in need. We are to care for the poor. We are to consider others more highly than ourselves. We are not to show favoritism. There is something so incredible about the one who considers the poor. For those in a lowly state, they have no ability to give back. When you give you have to give without expectation of return. It ends up remaining a truly selfless act. It is rooted in a place of humility rather than a place of pride.

Humility, generosity and caring for one another are all things we ought to prioritize in our lives. There is also reward from the Lord in that. The Lord brings a strengthening to you. As in any obedience to the Lord you will grow more firm in your faith. In this season it is an excellent time to practice such generosity. Live in humility and give without expectation of return. The Lord will reward that.
